Hosting WordPress and security

The need to keep Wordpress updated, and how Vivo IT can look after you.

If you have a small business and your own website, you may have used WordPress.

WordPress is a flexible tool that many people use as it’s free and open source and has rich variety of plugins.

Like any service or application however, this needs to be maintained in terms of content and also the software.

WordPress itself routinely makes updates available to address vulnerabilities and improve security.

Plugins may be open source or proprietary and may be free or have cost; either way they need to be checked for updates.

The nature of it being open source is both its strength and its weakness, it means that anyone can inspect the code and try to improve it or find flaws. As such we recommend checking for updates and applying them at least on a monthly basis.

Logging in to WordPress does not have a 2 factor authentication feature,

We recommend an additional plugin such as Wordfence to enable this feature.
